ECO FENDER COVERS®
SAILING THE SEAS WHILE PROTECTING THEM
After careful study and research, ELASPONGE FENDER COVERS GROUP, committed to reducing the serious issue of environmental and marine pollution, has become the first worldwide producer of a fender cover whose yarn derives entirely from the recycling of plastic bottles, which was developed by a leading company in Italy in the polyester filament yarn industry
This result confirms the excellent quality of the textile used by us to manufacture our ECO FENDER COVERS®, which ensure a resistance that no other fender cover on the international market today can guarantee.
Large companies in the automotive sector are advertising this product, using it to cover the upholstery for their cars, and the most renowned fashion designers have included it in their latest collections presented at the last edition of PITTI UOMO in Florence.
DESCRIPTION OF YARN PRODUCTION
Yarn production is developed in a certified and fully trackable supply chain system. The final product, the yarn, is entirely derived from post-consumer recycled material through a mechanical process, not chemical, certified 100% MADE IN ITALY, throughout its supply chain.
PRODUCTION PHASES
1) COLLECTION: Plastic bottles are recovered from the separate collection made in the North Italy basin.
2) TRANSFORMATION: After the cleaning, cutting and granulation phases, the plastic bottles are transformed into the polymer that gives origin to the yarn.
The environmental benefit that results from the production of this yarn is that for every kilogram of yarn produced, there is a 60% saving in electricity consumption, a 32% reduction in CO2 emissions and a 94% saving in water consumption, compared to traditional polyester.
A boat usually requires 6 to 8 fender covers, which means that 56 to 89 plastic bottles will be used, thus reducing environmental and marine pollution.
Once the yarn was turned by us into a polyester textile, in order to test its abrasion resistance, it was sent to the most important analysis centre in Europe, CENTRO COT in Busto Arsizio, whose certification is attached hereto.
